Your qualifications

You'll need the following as a minimum:


  • English Language GCSE Grade C+
  • Mathematics GCSE Grade C+
  • Science GCSE Grade C+ (Primary course trainees only)


  • A grade combination of at least BCC
  • Minimum Grade B in the subject you want to teach


  • 2:2 or above (although all applications will be dealt with individually and on merit)


  • We'll be looking for evidence of a positive child-centred ethos and/or some experience of working with young people


You'll need:

  • Good knowledge of your chosen subject
  • The ability to relate and engage young people well
  • Excellent all-round communication skills
  • Team spirit
  • A talent with numbers and words


Every United Learning school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and staff. All staff, including United Teaching trainees are expected to share this commitment. Every successful applicant will be required to undergo thorough pre-employment checks. These include: a Children’s Barred List, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, a Medical Questionnaire and a Prohibition Order check. All prospective employees will be expected to provide the names of two professional referees who will be able to provide acceptable recommendations.
