Proud to be ‘Exceptional’ in all areas

We are delighted that United Teaching National SCITT has been judged ‘Exceptional’ by Ofsted across every inspection judgement area in both its primary and secondary provision.

We are incredibly proud of this outcome and of what it says about the experience trainees receive across the programme, the teachers they go on to become, and the impact they have in classrooms and communities across the country.

Ambitious, rigorous and sector-leading

Ofsted recognises our programme as delivering exceptional outcomes for trainees and highlights the consistently high quality of training, curriculum and support across both primary and secondary phases.

The report found that trainees develop knowledge and skills “far beyond what might be expected”, leaving them exceptionally well prepared to thrive in the classroom and beyond.

It also highlights the strength of our carefully designed curriculum, describing it as “highly sophisticated” and “expertly structured”, with seamless integration between training and classroom practice.

They said:

  • "Trainees begin their teaching career equipped with deeply engrained knowledge and skills, at a standard far beyond what might be expected."
  • "The curriculum is highly sophisticated and expertly structured."
  • "The quality of mentoring is exemplary."
  • "Inclusion is the central pillar of the programme."
  • "Leaders have an unapologetic drive for excellence in their provision"

The report highlights the extensive and highly personalised support available throughout the programme. From recruitment through to completion, trainees benefit from a strong culture of care, inclusion and belonging.

The report also recognises our commitment to wellbeing, noting that trainees have access to multiple layers of support and develop the resilience and strategies needed to sustain successful teaching careers.

Preparing the next generation of teachers

Trainees develop deep subject knowledge, strong classroom practice and the confidence to adapt teaching to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with additional needs or barriers to learning.

By the end of the programme, trainees are not only ready for their first teaching role but equipped with the expertise and mindset to succeed long term and make a meaningful impact in classrooms across the country.

We are particularly proud that the report reflects the values that sit at the heart of United Teaching: hard work, integrity and excellence.

Most of all, we feel incredibly fortunate to be part of an amazing team of people at United Teaching. This achievement is a reflection of all the hard work and expertise from the mentors working with trainees in placement schools, to those members of the central United Teaching team who support and lead across every aspect of the programme.

Thank you to everyone who has played a part in this achievement.
